Sterling Steps: Terms and Conditions

What These Terms Are All About

Right then, welcome to Sterling Steps. These Terms and Conditions (or 'Terms' for short) are a straightforward agreement between you and us, Sterling Steps. When you visit our website or sign up for any of our courses, you're agreeing to play by these rules. We've tried to keep them as clear and sensible as possible, just like our lessons on money. If you don't fancy agreeing to them, then our platform might not be the right fit for you. Take a good read through; it's important stuff, but we've kept the legal jargon to a minimum. We're based here in Birmingham, and we want things to be plain sailing for everyone.

Who We Are & What We Do

We're Sterling Steps, a humble educational platform from Birmingham, UK. Our main gig is to offer structured courses that help everyday folks like you get a better handle on their personal money, investing basics, and how the economy works. We're not here to give you specific financial advice – think of us more as your friendly tutors for getting clued up. Our courses are designed for beginners who want to feel more confident and in control of their finances. Everything we do is about practical learning, without the complicated bits.

Setting Up Your Account

To get stuck into our courses, you'll need to set up an account with us. You must be at least 18 years old to do this. When you sign up, please give us honest, accurate information – your real name and a proper email address. Keep your account details safe and sound; don't share your password with anyone. You're responsible for what happens on your account. If you think someone's got into your account who shouldn't have, give us a shout straight away so we can sort it.

Paying for Your Courses

All our courses are paid for as a one-off sum, in Great British Pounds (£), as shown on our website. We use secure third-party payment systems to handle your transactions, so your payment details are kept safe and sound. When you buy a course, you get full access to the materials for life. We don't do recurring subscriptions or hidden fees – just pay once and it's yours. We aim to be transparent about all our prices, so you know exactly what you're getting for your money.

Using Our Course Materials

The courses and all the stuff in them – the lessons, videos, texts, and everything else – belong to Sterling Steps or our content partners. This is our 'intellectual property.' When you buy a course, you're getting a licence to use these materials for your own personal learning. Please don't copy, share, or sell any of our course content to others. It's for your eyes only to help you learn. We've put a lot of effort into making these courses, and we appreciate you respecting that.

No Financial Advice Here

Listen, this is really important: Sterling Steps is an educational platform. We provide general information and practical tools to help you understand personal finance and investing. We are NOT financial advisors. We don't know your personal situation, so nothing on our site or in our courses should be taken as personal financial, investment, legal, or tax advice. Always do your own research or talk to a qualified professional before making any financial decisions. Your money decisions are your own, and we can't be held responsible for them.

What We're Not Responsible For

While we do our best to keep everything accurate and useful, we can't promise that our courses will always be perfect, totally up-to-date, or completely error-free. The financial world moves fast, eh? We're not responsible for any losses or damages you might run into from using our platform, or from relying on any information you find here. This includes things like technical glitches, website downtime, or if our information is out of date. We just provide the learning tools, not a guarantee of financial outcomes.

Your Behaviour on Our Platform

We expect everyone using Sterling Steps to be respectful and decent. Don't use our platform for anything illegal or nasty. No trying to hack our site, no spreading bad vibes, and no using our materials in ways that aren't allowed. Treat other users and our staff how you'd like to be treated. If you act out of line, we might have to suspend or close your account, and we really don't want to do that. Let's keep it a friendly, learning environment for everyone.

When We Change These Terms

Sometimes, we might need to update these Terms. Maybe the law changes, or we add new courses. If we do, we'll post the new version right here on this page with a new 'Effective Date'. We might also try to give you a heads-up directly if it's a big change. By carrying on using Sterling Steps after we've put up new Terms, you're saying you're okay with them. We recommend checking back here now and then, just to stay in the loop.

About the Law

These Terms, and any squabbles or disagreements that might pop up between you and Sterling Steps, will be sorted out under the laws of England and Wales. This means that if there's ever a serious legal dispute concerning our services or these Terms, it would be handled exclusively in the courts of England and Wales. We're a UK company, based in Birmingham, and we operate strictly under UK law. This provides clarity and consistency for all our users right across the United Kingdom.
